      Hi there

I've searched for this, but it seems there ain't anything that answers this ....

So is there a way, or a tool to do this? Thing is I think I remember some of the plugins could do it, but I've got kind of a big mish-mash out of them......

      Thanks for your suggestions

      G.

Is it geometry or an image?

        If geometry,
Extrude the shape through the curved surface and intersect the faces is the vanilla way to do it.
The sandbox tools, stamp or drape can do it.

One plugin that springs to mind is Tig's Super drape, it will drape the shape of one group onto another.

You could also use Shape bender to bend the shape to the curve.

SuperDrape only works vertically downwards, so you might need to reoriented you two pieces to suit.
SuperDrawp clones materials too, but if that's not so important try my EEbyVectoreToObjects...
Pull the selected face through the receiver form [along ANY vector - pre-draw a guideline if that'll help with snapping] and a now a new group is made, extruding the selected face up to the receiver object's surfaces.
Edit that group and erase everything in it except for the 'draped' edges on the receiver's surface.
Edit>Cut that group and edit the receiver group.
Edit>PasteInPlace and explode the newly inserted group.
Its edges should merge with the receiver group's geometry à la 'drape'...
