How do you create detailed drawings in Sketchup maker
-
Tom, there isn't a simple explanation for it but to start with, you have to learn to use SketchUp's tool. I make detailed plans for woodworking projects all the time. Some key things are drawing precisely, making use of components and getting the model completed with all the details before worrying about the plans. Then as TECHDAVE indicated, you utilize layers and scenes, add dimensions and other text as needed. I did a DVD a while back that shows how to draw up a simple woodworking project from concept to detailed plans. It might help you out.
Model drawn assembled. Each piece of wood is a component.
Exploded view.
Additional views can be created as scenes showing the individual parts which can be dimensioned as needed.

there many vids on utube
Make sure you are in parallel projection
use scenes/views/dimension tools.
"Update" Dave R is right the skill and techniques; watch tutorials
I updated the sample
open scene, layer, windows and see the changes etc

Thanks for the help. I currently use Solidworks in my business. My brain has been conditioned to expect the program to react a certain way. I usually see "create drawing" and then I insert the model. I will get used to it. Thanks again.
