Copying surface between faces
-
I'm trying to make my own custom board gaming dice with an identical indented shape on several of the faces.
Is there some way to make a die face a component and then rotate and copy that face to some of the other sides? When I try to select the face I've made I don't seem to be able to choose Make Component - is that because the die face doesn't have depth? I'm pretty newbie so I hope I'm missing something obvious!

For the creation of a component you must select at least two objects (e.g. one face and one edge)...

Cotty is right in a sense, you need two things to get it in the right click context menu, however, you can use the make component button or the keyboard shortcut G if you only have one thing.

Cotty is right about creating a component through the right click context menu.
But you can create a component after selecting a single entity (say edge or face) by using the 'Make Component' icon.
An edge can exist on its own. The component will then contain just that edge.
A face can not exist on its own. It needs the boundary. After creating the component from just selecting a face it will (in the component) contain all the bounding edges to support that face. -
Thanks for the tips, everyone! I got the model finished with the advice last night.
