Thanks, Pete...

- This is a hard question, like saying how is Vray or Thea compared to the price, so in answering I say that if you bought it for a hobby then you have way too much money to burn...
Although it's a bit difficult to answer, you summed it up quite well...

Pete, you mentioned clients love it 'cause they can navigate around in it; I'm assuming you are referring to the live cubes? Have you had any trouble with clients opening them? That was one of the options that first attracted me to the program. When I first got LumenRT and created live cubes, they wouldn't open on other computers as they didn't meet the required specs to do so.
Have you tried importing VUE scenes into LumenRT? Have you tried the new rain feature in Vue? Sadly, I've been too busy to do no more than load the programs on my computer.

I had issues in the beginning with live cubes crashing but that was sorted out a couple of updates ago, I have had clients remark that when opening it stuttered and that was because they had weak machines, I told them to reduce the resolution and it worked, I'd really love if there was a future version that could convert to a web based viewer, that would be just brilliant.
Regarding Vue, I have fallen behind, I am still using Vue 9 inf, that is when I use it, I found it too slow to render for a production tool, I cannot comment on the new version as I have not tried it, however it's still an awesome tool.

I've loaded Vue Inf. 11.5 on my new computer with the specs you recommended, and I loaded a fairly detailed SU model of a building and test rendered (no trees, ground, etc.) it at one of the higher settings - it took about 5 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised by the speed.

I'm really enjoying this software.
Clients love it.
Trying to embed video with major fail. Sorry.

Hello All.
I am fairly new to all this so forgive me for my ignorance if it shows.
I am using SketchUp Pro 8 and 2013 with LumenRT 4.
I have two lighting issues that I need help with.
The first item is that I am doing a backyard design with a new pool. I am trying to put a light in the pool under the water to illuminate the water.
The second item is that that I have exposed light bulb strings hanging over the patio and hot tub in my design. I have tried several ways to make the light bulb glow. I have added lighting to the bulbs and all I get is light landing on the objects near the bulbs.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jay -
Hi Jay,
Sorry I missed your post. I'm not sure I understand your problem with the underwater lights, but the answer to your question about visible lights is to turn on the light flares in the scene settings.

JayJay, I cannot see those images, I'd like to help, can you fix them?
-
Pete, re the above images. I just clicked them and they show as Picasa images.

I believe the new update will be available today or Monday, it includes a whole lot of new plants.
I have a beta version with a few of the new plants, there are flowers also.
-
Eagerly anticipating the update. I hope the new trees/plants aren't tropical - I've yet to find a use for banana and palm trees in East Tennessee.

You will be happy then, off the top of my head I remember seeing Alder, Elm, Azalea, Beech, Birch, Boxwood, Buckthorn, Laurel, Chestnut, Cypress, Willow, Dogwood, Ficus, Eucalyptus, Fir, Hawthorn, Hickory, Juniper, Mahogany, Maple, Linden, Magnolia, Red Oak, White Oak,
a whole bunch of Pines, Poplar, Redwood, Spruce, Walnut and Willows, there are many others I cannot recall. -
Wow Pete that was off the top of your head! Lol! That's funny. Well anyway it looks like a much better bargain than Lumion at $2000 for the standard version. Is there a trial version of Lumen RT?
-
I believe there is a PLE version of LumenRT available.
