      I want to paste an item on top of another and leave a gap i can get the item on top but struggling on how to leave a gap inbetween

        You can paste it and move it afterwards.
        (Another way would be to change the insertion point of the component before pasting (only possible for components))

          If you want to keep the two things separate, make sure they are components or groups. In your example, it appears that both things are identical. You could just copy the bottom one up by the thickness of the thing plus the 10mm. Use Move/Copy for that.
