MIDDLE-LINE - HOW TO CREATE?

hi everybody,
i just came across the problem to draw a middleline of a road automatically.
has anybody an idea, if there is a ruby, which can calculate the middle point in the geometry step by step and draw a line between these centerpoint?
the red line shall be the result.

hi, thanx, yes, i already tried,
but at the moment a get doubled lines in the middle , when the offset = 1/2 of the width.so creating a curve from the middle - line by WELD does not work yet.
still trying.

Alternatively, you could use Curviloft (loft by spline), with
- the 2 side contours
- asking for 2 segments (2s)
- in geometry parameters, as only for grid
