I can't get to my old plugin in SU 2013
-
I installed/upgraded to the new 2013 SU on my MacBook Pro. I have been using SU8 for the last few years and have one plugin (and only one plugin) from Chuck Vali "Instant Roof Pro". With some help from Chuck I copied the .rb and .rbs files from my old plugin folder in SU8 and pasted them into the SU13 plugins folder. I restarted my computer and opened SU13 but there was no "plugins" at the top bar (like in my SU8 version). I just installed the SketchUcation thing and now I get the "plugins" at the top bar in SU13 but only shows the plugin store, manager, extension manager and tool bar on/off.
I'm no rocket scientist and even though I'm building some nice detailed large custom homes and producing real nice working drawings in LayOut, I have a hell of a time operating the ins and outs of my computer. Here is how i got there;
Mac HD/library/application Support/sketchup 2013/sketchup (right click and "show package contents)/contents/plugins... Showing the two InstantRoof.rbs and .rb files.
Help please!
Thanks,
Victor

Hi:
I do not have this plugin, but have you checked Window>Preferences>Extensions and checked the box next to the name, if there is one?
Also, did you look at View>Toolbars, and check the name-if there is one? -
Just tried both and no luck.

Trimble have 'fixed' the Plugins folder issues with v2013 for MAC [with user path versus hd path] and it now expects you to have put your plugins into you Users path Plugins folder...
This is where the RBZ auto-installer will put them...To find its location copy+paste+<enter> this into the Ruby Console.
Sketchup.find_support_file('Plugins')
It returns the default path to Plugins for that version of SketchUp...
It may be hidden from you and 'library' visibility needs switching 'on' ?Plugin files that you manually put into other 'plugins' folders [even if you have sorted the permissions to FULL read/write] may not auto-load at SketchUp's startup...

Thanks TIG,
I did just that and it reads...
Users/"me"/library/application support/SU2013/SU/plugins
When I'm in apple finder it shows "favorites" with airdrop, applications, desktop, documents, downloads, movies, music, pictures and "me"(user) listed below. Below that it shows "shared" and "devices"...below devices Mac HD and Remote Disc is listed.
When I click on "me" I don't see "library" so I can't even begin to find application support, etc. I can only get to that in Mac HD.
Non related, I want copy my materials folder in SU8 but couldn't find the materials folder in SU2013 to paste it in. I'm guessing this must be the same issue.
I'm lost... -
Hey TIG,
I found the library in users...hidden from view. I was able to copy old plugin and put it in the correct file! Thanks for your help...so much. I had to research how to get into that hidden file (while in FINDER while viewing USER you click on Go at top of screen and hold the ALT key and "library" is revealed. Guess apple wants to keep idiots like me out of that area.
Now any idea how to add my materials from SU8 to v13? Don't see any materials file anywhere. -
I suggested your library folders might be 'hidden'
I keep an alias link to mine in the side bar of the Finder window.
Then you can quickly get into it...
This Materials etc folder has been covered elsewhere on the forum...

On a MAC SketchUp 2013 automatically makes the User's Plugins folder.
However, it doesn't automatically make a User's Materials/Components/Styles folder in the same User location.
You can add those subfolders yourself.
Then you can tell SketchUp to include those in your 'collections' as desired, in the materials-browser's listings etc...
