This would be a cool thing. I've already got a wireless keyboard and mouse. If the display was wireless as well, I could put my PC somewhere out of the way and have a much less cluttered work area. LayOut would have to work with it as well.

Yes - and from what I read not really hard to implement on the application side. Google is actively looking to recruit app developers to include this functionality. Already works well for Chrome browser and is awesome for presentations on a big screen. How can this be pushed to Trimble's attention?

"Also, Chromecast doesn't allow so-called "sideloaded" content to be streamed on it. "Sideloaded" is essentially shorthand for content that Google can't be certain you have legally purchased and have the rights to consume. If I had gotten the Chrome browser method to work, I could have used that to view them on the big screen. But it's easier said than done.

Plenty of devices allow much easier local content streaming. Chromecast isn't one of them. It's not a deal-breaker for me, though.

Wait a little while. It's only 6:30 in the morning in Boulder. Chris Fullmer will certainly be along and he'll see it. That's get it to the SketchUp team. 😉

I was just going to say, why don't you get yourself a Vianect wireless graphic adapter like the one I have used for years. No wires, no limits. it is simply another monitor for your PC. But when I looked for a link to show you what I was talking about it appears to be a German thing and I can't find it available in the states. Oh well.

But this is it on Amazon UK to give you an idea. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Devolo-1632-devolo-Vianect-AIR/dp/B003VE6U5G

They talk about being able to view videos and such, but it simply extends your desktop wirelessly, so everything works on it.

Interesting device, Box. I looked on Amazon here in the US. They show it but it ships from Germany at $144 plus shipping.

I've had it so long I take it for granted. I recently tried to buy one in Australia, nobody knew what I was talking about. I'm surprised they aren't more widely available.

If the wireless connection was really dependable, I can think of some applications for this here at work where we have a computer on an anesthesia machine. We could mount the CPU elsewhere and have wireless connection to it instead of using a KVM over CAT5.

Quick quick get it rebooted before he wakes up..........

It does sometimes drop the connection, so I wouldn't recommend it for that.

Fortunately the computer doesn't control the anesthesia machine. It's just for patient record charting. I suppose there'd be worries about patient privacy if it was wireless so we're probably stuck with hardwired connections.

Looks like you might be able to cast your full computer monitor to the TV, not just the chrome browser.
