SU 13 Locks Up When Saving In X-Ray Face Style
-
Hello,
I've been working on some relatively simple models and I've had some problems saving them due to computer lockup. I'm beginning to think it's some sort of bug. It happens when I try to save when I'm using an X-Ray face style. This doesn't happen all of the time, but frequently enough that now am careful to switch out of X-Ray face style BEFORE saving. So there is a work-around but......
I have a brand new computer specifically configured for graphic modeling, and the models that I've had problems with are pretty simple (one is attached). I don't get bug splats, and I haven't taken the time to fish around the Trimble website and report this -- probably should. Just was wondering if anybody else saw this problem.
Thanks!

Frank, I've just tried saving your file with the face style set to X-ray. It saved just fine with no lock up. It saved quite rapidly, too. Are you saving this file to the C:\ drive or someone where else? As you might remember we have very similar machines.

Hi Dave,
No, actually I'm saving this to my D drive (a regular hard drive and not a solid state). Just wanted to keep the solid state drive as uncluttered as possible. The Sketchup program is running on C drive.
If this is the problem, then I guess I can do a "working file" on the C drive and just remember to save it on my D drive when I get done for the day.
Thanks for the tip!

I've saved it both to the solid state C drive as well as the standard D drive. Both times it seems as though the same time was roughly the same and no locking up. I was really wondering if you were saving to a memory stick or a cloud location. You answered that, though.
Weird. I doubt it's a bug but I don't know why it wouldn't save for you.

Hi Dave,
Must be electron magic. It has happened to me on several occasions on two separate models. It doesn't happen every time, but often enough to be quite annoying. I found that the autosave feature was very useful in these instances.
I'll keep an eye on it, and I'll start reporting this to the Sketchup folks.
Thanks for your help!
