Sketch-Up 8 Freezing when clicking "3D Text" tool.

Having one of those days. My GPU (8800 GTS 512m)bit the big one today, and I had to replace it on the fly.
Running Intel Core 2 6600 (2.4Gh) on ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus Mobo and added ASUS GTS 640 2G3D with DX 11 and OGL 4.2.
Ran a bench mark, and it averaged slightly above the former card. Opened a 9700+kb model to test, and it seemed to work fine. I could orbit w/o losing texture (better than fine). So I returned to the task at hand, a 500kb model I was working on before the fall (of 8800GTS).
Everything was fine untill I tapped the 3D text tool button. The program freezed, no bug splat, and had to kill it via Task Manager.
I opened a new model with 0 polys, and repeted. It froze. Opened another new modle and went after the open GL in Preferences, but it reacted the same way when I hit the Preference sub-tab.
WTF?
Please help?
P.S. I have an install of SKPpro2013 trial that probably is out of minutes by now.

This may be a dead thread, but I'm having the same issue with '15. First time the 3D Text tool has given me any trouble, but it's exactly the behavior you describe. I'll let you know if I discover anything.

Same problem with 2016, 3d text tool freezes everything. Can free up with Esc.
Was working fine until this morning. Any fixes? Should I reinstall?
