SU2013 dimensions missing in LO at large scales
-
It looks like there is a problem with displaying SketchUp 2013 dimensions in Layout 2013 in large scale drawings.
I add all my dimensions in SketchUp (prevents errors and works really fine for me) and use layout just to add texts etc.
In large scale details (using mm's as units, 1:10) the dimension line is visible but the numbers are missing.
I hope this can be fixed

I really hoped in the new maintenance release M2 (13.0.4812) it would have been fixed but the problem still exists. Strange thought that in raster mode it works correctly but not in vector or hybrid mode.
Please Trimble have a look at it. I know you have nice dimensioning features in LayOut but I really want to be able to do the dimensioning in SketchUp - that way I'm absolutely 100% sure the dimensions are right and not snapped to another plane or something like that.

This bug really is a problem. What's the best place to report this issue to the SketchUp people at Trimble?

Trimble was alerted to this long ago. I was one of the ones to report it to them. My understanding is that it was fixed in a maintenance release. I don't remember which maintenance release it was but I haven't run into it at least since the last one. Maybe you should check for updates first.

Thanks for reporting the issue but for me the bug is still alive. My SketchUp is up to date, I'm on 13.0.4812.

Don't know why that link was shortened like that in my reply. Glad to be of help.

I received a reply on my posting on the SketchUp product forum:

This is definitely a bug in LayOut 2013, and the only workaround that I'm aware of is to use Raster rendering or to do your labeling in LayOut directly.
We do have a fix for this bug, which will be available with the next release of SketchUp. I can't promise when that will be released, but stay tuned...

Ah, good.
My mistake. I thought you were dimensioning in LO. There was a bug early on with LO2013 that showed the same thing with large dimensions that were placed in LO and I thought that's what you were running into.
Why aren't you doing the dimensioning in LayOut anyway?

Hurrai, in the new release of SketchUp & Layout 2014 it's fixed! Thanks Trimble.

I do all my construction and working drawings in SketchUp and Layout. I need to be 100% sure the dimensions are correct. I add them in 3d mode, zooming in and out and thus can be sure the right points are being used for dimensioning. No problems with snapping to another point at the same xy but slightly different z.
