SketchUcation Plugin Issue
-
Rederiza - Thank you for the reply. I tried this and still get the error message that states "Username or Password missmatch, try again."
I am using the same exact username and password to log into and post of the forum, so I do not understand why it keeps saying that.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thank you again.

There is a one-off login to SCF with this tool, which links your PC to you account.
This is to allow us to do some future plans - like telling you if the plugin you got a few weeks ago now has an update that you might like to get. So if you AutoInstall a plugin from this tool within SketchUp, or download from the site itself [as rbz] they are all logged to you...Please ensure that you login details are exactly right - your username and password are both probably 'case-sensitive'...
Try changing your password in your User-Account and see if that helps [avoid non-ascii characters etc in case that's the issue...]
I'll get GĂĄbor [the IT guru] to PM you too...

TIG - Thank you for the reply!
I did try changing my password and I also uninstalled the plugin, re-downloaded and reinstalled. None of these seemed to fix the issue.
I appreciate the help and will update once I hear from "Gabor"

I did this both in IE and Firefox with no success. If it helps rule anything out, the computer I am using is 3 days old and has barely been used.
Thank you again!!!

Noticed that Jeremy is using SU V7! Could this have a bearing on the matter?

I apologize for the confusion, I am running Sketchup 2013 Pro. I updated my profile to show this.... Thank you.

New PCs often need sorting out. They have all sorts of helpful programs that get in the way.
Check things like Norton antivirus, windows firewall, HP security manager etc etc.... I bet something is not allowing the plugin to have access. -
Check for 'Compatibility Files' link button in the top bars of the Plugins folders Windows Explorer window...
You might have restricted rights to the Plugins folder and Windows might not be allowing a full installation of some plugins - putting some parts of them into a 'VirtualStore' folder.Check you Plugins folder's permissions...
Select its icon.
Right-click > context-menu > Properties > Security > Edit...
Everyone in the list should have FULL permissions to Read & Write. Also reset the permissions for the Components, Materials and Styles folders to FULL, because you might also want to write to those...
Are you an admin?
If not make yourself one un the Users Control Panel...Set SketchUp.exe to always run as administrator [Properties > Compatibility context menu...]
It is also best to install applications like SketchUp 'run as administrator' [context-menu]...
PS: Webdialogs in SketchUp always use IE [Safari on MACs] - irrespective of your default browser - so you only need to worry about clearing the cache for IE...

TIG,
I know of 11 people in the same classroom with the same problem as JS Maloney. All with different sets, windows Vista/7/8, Sketchup 2013 and 8, Pro, Make and Free. I don't know if he solved the problem, but it might be more than that. It's pretty hard for me to track what you suggest in all computers, but they all installed the plugin through preferences/install extension, and none of them could connect to their login.
I am trying to help them in any way I can, but with no success.

Please type this in the Ruby Console:
f=SCF::SCF_Dialog::SCFDIR
You should get something like:
C:/Users/YourUserName/AppData/Local/SCF
Does that folder exist? [you might need to change options to view hidden folders like AppData]
If so what is in that folder ?
To check if Ruby is working type this in the Ruy Console:
File.exist?(f)
If it exists it should return 'true' BUT it it returns 'false', BUT you can see it exists it's an indication of something wrong with the letters...
I note that you are 'PT' ?
Please be aware that SketchUp//Layout and SketchUp's Ruby can fail on PCs with User-names / folder-paths that contain accented [non-ASCII] characters - do you have any accented letters ?
It is advisable to always have unaccented names. This might also be a Firewall issue preventing this ?***

@TIG,
Thank you for your trouble, but the problem is not on my machine. I have no problem with the plugin. It happened on the PC's of all 11 people I was tutoring. GĂĄbor is already in touch with me and I'll be in touch with those people only through email for the next week.
One of them simply reset her password today and the plugin started working. GĂĄbor told me there had been some server issues that may have prevented the login processes, but they managed to login directly online on Sketchucation site and download plugins (Plugin Store actually).
If they still have trouble I will redirect them to this page though or try to work out some other way of making them follow this directions, and keep you posted.
Anyway thank you again, it always amazes me the interactivity here on sketchucation and your personal availability to solve other's people questions.
Best regards,
JQL

Sorry for the late feedback. Problem seems solved. It seems it was exactly the problem with the server.
Thank you and best regards,
JQL
