SketchUp 2013 Zoom Issue
-
I’ve been using SketchUp for a while, moving from v6 to v7 to v8, and upgraded to SU2013 several weeks ago. I had not noticed any problems – until now. Suddenly, it has started behaving strangely when I want to zoom an object. It seems that one click of the mouse wheel is very sensitive and either brings an object too close or makes it too far away. I can open a model in SU8 that was created in SU8 and the zoom works normally. If I open the same model in SU2013, the zoom is crazy.
Incidentally, anything I created in SU8 is being kept as an SU8 model for now.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
Does anyone have an idea what I should look for? All of my mouse settings appear normal.

Hi Bill,
I haven't noticed any change in zooming between SU versions on either my PCs or Mac. I don't know if this will have anything to do with it but you might look at the OpenGL settings and compare them between versions. Use the settings from SU8 for SU2013 and see if there's a change.

Let me guess, you have a Logitech mouse. I know the zoom zoom of which you speak.
Logitech have a "smart" scroll wheel function. It makes web pages scroll more smoothly, I turned it off and the problem went away in SU. Look for a setting in Logitech software for the keyboard and mouse or equivalent software of another brand. I'm not near mine to give you a specific setting. -

Excellent guess, Box! I have a wireless M510.
I'm familiar with the settings of which you speak. I went in just now and un-clicked the 'Smooth Scroll' button. Unfortunately, I can't tell you if that change worked for me until I play with my drawings in SU2013 a bit more. Before I made the change, I opened several drawings in SU2013 to confirm the zoom-zoom was still occurring. You guessed it! No super zoom, which is what I saw before. At times, I could open a drawing and have normal zoom. Then, after having the drawing open a bit, zoom went wild.
Thanks for your input. I'll let you know if my problem comes up again.

All three OpenGL options are checked in v8. Only hardware acceleration and fast feedback are checked in 2013. Box might have the answer for my situation. I'll see if that works, then change the OpenGL settings.
Thanks!

His was the next thing I was going to suggest. It's likely related to the mouse driver.
