      Here's what I am doing
      load one component for scaling.
      draw a rectangle
      delete componant
scale one side of that rectangle
pick ANY other tool.. and I mean just choose it. Select.. move..push/pull, even zoom extends and
      splat

5x now! It's making me crazy

Does it crash if you do something different after deleting the component? Do you have to load the component to get it to crash? What if you purge unused components after you delete the component from the drawing space? does it crash then?

tested several of those suggestions.. seems I have an issue with scaling. Immediately after scale operation (fredoscale) splat - with or without components.. with or without purging.
might be time to check for plugin updates

          thanks

So it is FredoScale that you're using?

            What operating system?

Since this isn't a SketchUp bug I'll move this post out into the sketchUp discussions where you'll get better coverage.
