Translucent error
-
Could anyone throw some light on this problem, please. On a couple of occasions recently, I have noticed that a material selected from the translucent palette has not stayed translucent when in front of some other material. eg. The image attached shows glass in front of the background building texture, but not showing up in front of the tree textures. This has happened also (in another file) against one of the SU native fence textures.
I’ve tried replicating the problem but can’t recreate the error. Any ideas?

Hi Fiona,
This is not the same phenomenon but try to play around with the transparency settings in your styles dialog like described in this tutorial: http://sketchucation.com/resources/tutorials/37-beginner/253-halo-around-transparent-png-files
If it still fails, could you share the model, please, I have seen weird things with transparency even related to faraway component origins due to imported CAD files.

Hi Gaieus, thank you for the attention. Here's one of the problem files. I've removed all but the offending bits (my client is very security conscious so wouldn't want me to post the whole scene just yet).
The only imports to this file are textures/images. There were some SKP files imported (created by me) & one file downloaded from Warehouse - all of which have since been deleted.

Like I suspected, it's a transparency quality setting. You have your style set to "faster[/highlight:1ye9fkh6]" (which is actually a good idea to do while modelling) and even medium[/highlight:1ye9fkh6] setting would eliminate the problem.
Don't forget to update your style setting changes (see where the cursor is in the second screen shot) in order to make this change permanent in the model. -
A-haa! I knew you'd have the answer... many thanks!

You also have some reversed faces going on, you should be aware of them or you'll get problems there too.
