I have created a bench top from three glued up layers of 3/4" MDF, giving me a top that's 2-1/4" thick. See Attachment. I want to "drill" 3/4" dog holes through all three pieces simultaneously, but I can't figure out how. Is this possible? Can anyone please help? Thanks.

        Hi Rick,

First, you've got poor organization of the top in your model so it makes telling you what to do a little convoluted. The first thing I would do is make a component of the very top layer. Currently it is loose geometry inside a component containing other components.

Once you've got all components, layout the locations for the dog holes on the top component. If you'll evenly space them along the top, place the first one and make a linear array using the Copy function of the Move tool. Push/Pull will make quick work of drilling the holes through the top layer.

Next, open the next layer down and zoom in so you are looking down into the first hole. Draw the outline of the dog hole referencing the bottom of the hole in the top layer. If you're using round dogs, place the circle tool on the edge of the existing hole for two seconds and then move the cursor toward the center of the circle. It'll snap to the center. After you've placed the first hole position in this layer, make a linear array of the hole as before using the copy function of the Move tool. Repeat the Push/Pull process. You can hide the top layer if you wish.

Repeat the above for the third layer.

I can think of several other ways to do this although for a beginner they might make your head spin. πŸ˜‰
