      HI,

When I do text in LO, after I'm finished typing, it fills the whole box in with black as a default setting. I don't know how to get it to fill white, even though I select the fill box and try to reset, it insists on changing it back to black. It is slowing things down. Does anyone have any tips? thanks, Keea

What operating system? (You could put that in your profile.) Could you post a sample LO file that exhibits this? We can take a look and see if we can sort out the problem.

Solved: Select the appropriate text tool, immediately change the fill color in the Shape Styles inspector and place some text. It should stick that way.

Since there's already some text that you've corrected, you could select the appropriate text tool, immediately hit S to sample and then sample an existing text box with the white fill color. Then go ahead and place the text. Again, it should stick that way until you make a change.

Dave is correct. Always make your settings after you have selected the tool and before you use the tool. This works the same for all graphics in LO. Once they are set in a given file, they become the default. Now make that file a template and your set for all future drawings.
