Section planes keep showing up in views
-
Thanks for the tip.
PS - lol at your signature and mine above each other.

Also make sure the scene in the LayOut is not shown as "scene name" modified. If so, it does not update the reference. You need to reselect the correct scene saved in Sketchup.

Aah, good tip. Thanks.

Not sure if anyone else struggled with this but I'll break it down coz it took me a few minutes of head scratching to figure out.
Once you have the scene displaying the way you want to in SU, go to
Window-->Styles and click the button that is second from the top on the right side of the Styles dialogue box (it has a little '+' symbol on it).
This will save the settings you are currently viewing in SU.
Then save the SU file. However, if you go to LO now and right click the scene and hit "Update Reference" you may find that the section plane remains visible.
To fix this you need to right click the scene in LO, go to styles and select the new style you just saved in SU (mine was called "Default Engineering Style1" since it was a modification of the Default Engineering Style.Your LO scene should now display exactly as it was in SU.
In Summary, if you have saved the syle in SU but the section plane remains in LO make sure that you have told LO to use the newly saved style

Ashcott - this should happen automatically when you update the scene. The only reason it wouldn't would be a result of the LO scene being "modified".

I keep three basic Styles in my template to cover Plans, Sections & Elevations. This is because each one is generally required to show the image differently with variations on cutting planes, profiles and rendering. You may need more depending on what you are doing.

Sonder - when you say modified do you mean that the user has opened the LO scene and changed the viewing angle (for example)?
ArCAD - thats a good idea, will put that to use
-
Yes, in the Model window it will say ..."(modified)Scene 1"
-
I should have added the thing about making sure the scene isn't modified. I try to avoid modified scenes in LO by making changes to the scenes in SU instead. This can save all sorts of headaches later.
