Terrain as a Solid Group
-
Hi Im still learning sketchup techniques and Im looking for some tips on terrain modelling. Ive struggled a bit with this process, particularly on sloping land which is something I have to deal with a lot. Ive had good results by turning contours into a solid group and then melding the building into the land by using the solid tools.
Ive attached a couple of pics to explain what I mean.
The problem is, it took me an eternity to create the solid terrain. In fact it took me that long I forgot how I did it. Basically I used the "intersect face with selection" tool then some erasing, then finding its not a solid object yet.
If someone could point me in the direction of a quicker, smarter and easier technique I would be very grateful.
Im using Pro now by the way.
Cheers

Hi Gai,
Thanks for the advice. I used your curviloft method from the link and it works really well! I made a solid group with a contoured top in 5 minutes... after a few failed attempts ofcourse. When the penny drops its quite simple.
Cheers
