I am wanting to extrude (follow me) a cylinder to a sloped wall and wondering how to get the cylinder to project to the sloped surface and not go through the sloped surface.

there are a few ways to go about this but for starters, try something like this..

extrude the cylinder far enough for it to go through the surface.
select both the cylinder and the slope
right-click and choose 'intersect faces -> with selection"
        then delete the unwanted parts.
