[Help] Views (top, front, right) misaligned by 45 degrees.
-
I'm having some troubles with sketchup, specifically the Views tool. The toolbar has a bunch of images of a house, from various angles. I use this a lot (well, their respective hotkeys anyway).
I'm accessing and building upon a model built by another modeller. The top view is misaligned. Where the green axis should go up and down, and the red axis should go left and right, the model currently is rotated 45 degrees counter clockwise from the top view. This is quite a pain.
The model still knows which way is north, and I can import CAD files with accurate orientation. But this view issue is becoming a problem when I want to print, with Parallel Projection, with proper orientation.

45 degrees? More like 60.

Without seeing the model I can't say for sure but it looks to me as if someone changed the model axes from their normal orientation (red and green on the ground plane) and they placed the model according to those changed axes. Try resetting the axes and see what happens. Right click on the origin and choose Reset. Then, if you have to, reorient the model to suite the corrected axes.

Nailed it. Thanks Dave. Didn't realize axis worked that way.
Man, this is working so much better now.

In my work I've never found a need to realign the model axes although I think some folks find it useful. No matter what you do to those axes, though, the groundplane and north remain in the same location. Well, north can be changed but the axis orientation has nothing to do with that. I have seen having a number of models from others in which the axes have been moved or realigned causing the model to be drawn skewed at some strange angle.
