Network license problem - Sketchup 8

We are considering purchasing more network licenses, but before we do, I'd like to know if others are having the same problem we are:
N = number of licenses
When user "N+1" tries to open Sketchup, it says "license exceeded; Sketchup will now close" AND it kicks off someone else who is currently working in Sketchup, without the chance to save their work.
Web searches don't show much info in the past 6 months.
We've been having this problem since February 2012 (pre-Trimble), without resolution from Google.Anyone else having this problem?
