Simple rendering

Hi
I have drawn a parcel box in SU Pro, the colour is black. I know little about rendering, all I want to do is create a good clear picture of just the object, no scenery, background etc. It needs lighting (as it is black). Can anyone suggest a simple to use rendering program that will easily create a decent image with a totaly white background (maybe just a drop shadow but no more). Everything I come across seems to concentrate on outside buildings etc. I have Renditioner Pro but this doesnt seem to give me the result I am looking for.

I would use Kerkythea but you should be able to use any renderer that allows you to place lights.

It sounds to me as if this is more a setup thing than a render-specific issue. If you want an entirely white background you need to light it independently of the model--and there needs to be a background and not just empty space. Or you could make the background an emitter/light source.

The background isn't entirely white in this image but it wouldn't be difficult to make it so by simply increasing the brightness of the lights lighting the background.

I've only just had notification of your reply, I've bought SU Podium and what you say is pretty much the case, I like your idea of having a LEM as a background

One thing I should have added in my previous post is that you can think like a studio photographer for this kind of thing. You can place your model on a seamless background which is easily drawn in SU or you can even find a few on the 3DWH if you're lazy. Place your lights to provide the required modeling (as in shadows) and to light the background as needed. You can put lights behind the model if needed just as a studio photographer might. Making the background an emitter would be like placing the model on a translucent background with light from below/behind.
