Straight line animation
-
hi, im trying to make a very basic animation in which the camera moves around in a maze-like environment ie: constant eye-height, always looking in the direction of movement, moving in a straight line then pivoting as it turns a corner, then moving straight again, and so on. ive tried using sketchup's scenes as well as flightpath and weld, but the camera always ends up swinging out in curves rather than the basic 'Doom'-style i was hoping for. anyone have any advice? had a look through old topics but cant find an answer which helps
thanks

Just use the native Walkthrough tools, Position Camera and Look Around. I did a quick example for you. Set crossing guidelines at the points where you want the viewer to "stand". Notice in my example that scenes 3 and 5 are with the viewer in the same position as the previous scenes. The camera has just been turned 90° to the left.

You didn't really address his issue. He wants to move the camera whole rotating the view, not move the camera, stop, rotate, then move again. I have the same issue. I want to create a flyby where the camera moves along a straight line, but as it passes the model I want it to turn so it remains pointed at the model. As mentioned, Sketchup adds it's own curved paths rather than traveling directly from point to point.

I did address the OP's answer five years ago. YOU are asking for something different from what they were looking for.
