Semi permanent guide points

Is there a way to make guide points semi permanent,as in would withstand a delete guides?Maybe a plugin...some way to make those points that stand out whatever the view.Is there an "always grow for camera"?I need anchor points inside ball joints for rotate(in x-ray)but i do use guides and the delete a lot,wondered if there was a way around doing it manually(or taking out the ones i needed and not clicking in time)

There's no native way to protect guide points but if you'll be using those points more than once, just draw a couple of short crossing lines that intersect on the guidepoint. You can make them very small and put them on a separate layer to hide them when you don't want to see them.

It was the "always visible" aspect i need..something that would remain a single point but still easily visible in a convoluted x-ray'd component.In normal view it would be buried inside.Like an always face camera for size,i guess.No such animal huh?Just needed points i could find in some potentially heavy geometry.

Tried the point tool,not what i was looking for but definitely handy.Making sure i was in fact hunting something that doesn't exist.thanx.

I used flashy yello circles with two diagonals as guides. These are components that I assigned to a layer called "Guides".

These shall be easy to spot in contrast to a small cross that may be superposed on geometry and be difficult to see.

Click on the scenes tabs of the attached file to see the effect. Since these scenes controls only the visibility of layers, it is easy to turn the guides on or off with a simple click on the appropriate scene tabs. Since only the visibility of layers is saved, this preserves any zoom, orbit or pan that you may have done as well as any display mode that you may choose. This example is in X-Ray but you can change the mode and see that the toggling of guide is still effective and is independent of all other rendering modes.

Just ideas.
