.DWG Headaches
-
Hello All
I have a .dwg given to me to place my model over the top.
there is text information on there that i need and i know that sketchup doesn't read this natively unless its been turned into lines - in the past i've taken the .dwg file into Adobe illustrator and converted type to lines and then imported into sketchup. i need to have a dwg as my output file.
please help me as i'm struggling. sketchup is crashing every time i do this.
the exported dwg out of illustrator is 7.3mb when it goes in its 1.3mb - Is 7.3 just too much?
Is there something i can do in Adobe Illustrator?
Is there a pdf way? could I save it as a certain kind of pdf then do the same import to sketchup and out again to .dwgany help on how i could proceed or point a thread my way would really be helping me?
Thanks for looking

Have you tried ImportDXFText by the venerable TIG? this would get the text into SketchUp.

What about install DraftSight for OSX? It is an AutoCAD LT clone and it has an OSX version. You could at least open the DWG and see what the text is.
