Thanks, already try it that way and import xfrog tree really well. The only thing is, xfrog imported donΒ΄t have movement (wind) like the lumion trees, but for still images looks very nice.

      Thanks again for your attention.

      Regards

i have to give a heads up here. most of the newer xfrog trees are too big to put them directly into lumion.
i just bought the europe 3 library and figured out that more than 50% are too heavy for lumion.

i now have to look for an opportunity to reduce the polycount using blender or something like this. 😞

the only problem seems to be the import process. once imported i can throw as much xfrog trees in the scene as i want πŸ˜•

some new WIP pictures of the project...again no postproduction, raw lumion renders.

when you look at the amout of xfrog trees in the scene you can hear my gpu cooler crying πŸ˜‰

hey thanks...i use lumion free 2.1 build 3.

here another WIP, i didn't like the dark grass models, so i tried to build the grass with the photoshop grass brush. maybe i will combine this with some postpro textures, though i even like the result with only the brush.

only Europe 3 is heavy. built for film use. All other 30 libraries
are much less heavy, (by a factor of 10x) .

                              Really nice work Carloh.

we think to release a video tutorial how to make SU
                              models from Xfrog 3ds/obj.

So they can be used in SU or Lumion.

                              Thoughts?

i have to re-update my statement that most xfrog trees are to big for lumion. i now have updated my system to win 7 64 bit, bought a new graphics card and added some rams, that now with 8 gb of ram and a geforce gtx 670 i can import every (even europe3) xfrog tree i bought into lumion πŸ‘ .of course you can't put an infinite amount of xfrog trees in your scene, but as the lumion trees are very easy to handle for the system you can put them in the background to fill the scene. works pretty well for me. i got asked why i don't use lumion trees in the whole scene then...in my case i have to display the correct species i use on my projects, and the amount of species is kind of limited in lumion, especially in the free version.

a tutorial for putting xfrog trees in SU sounds pretty good. i tried to import the .3ds files to SU but that seems not to be the right way as it immediately slows down the system? i don't know if theres a better way. i even tried to reduce the poly count with blender without any success.

with my limited knowledge about the whole material i would recommend to use xfrog trees only in your render engine as it works fine with lumion for me.

Did you have to do any work on the 3DS XFrog plant files before importing into Lumion.
I can not make them display properly.

Every 3DS Xfrog file that I import into Lumion has Leaves missing.
I have tested about 25 models in 3DS & OBJ & get the same results.

The test photo below shows the leaves missing.

The only way that I have made models display properly in Lumion is to import them into Sketchup & the apply the UVToolkit "Frontface Material to Backface" commend & then export as DAE. I even tried to export as 3DS & OBJ after the UV work & it still was missing the same parts.
The resulting file goes from a 6mb 3DS file to a 133mb DAE file!!!

                                  Thank you.

I had the same problem with missing leaves, although i didn't notice it at first because i had no referrence how they should appear and i thought "this is it" πŸ˜•

Annyhow i don't use Lumion anymore due to it's lack of realism i was looking for. Now that I purchased the full Maxwell Studio license i can use the Xfrog models withouth any workarounds and also using instancing it is quite nice perfomancewise.
