Hi,
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good quality free plugin render engine to use with sketch up? Any thoughts on Yafaray?Who uses any others?

have a look at indigo
great quality. decently easy to learn (though you have to at least try to learn it )
a free version is available (with output size limits)

I agree .
Indigo is still a wonderful quality renderer...and really not that hard to get into.
Whaat (developer of the SU plugin) did a brilliant job, especially the material presets work easy peasy -

Is yafaray availabe for SU? I thought it was only for Blender. Another suggestion - you could try the free Maxwell plugin.

Kerkythea is must to look, if you are looking a totally free renderer, no resolution limits. You will need to install both Kerkythea and SU2KT exporter. Most likelly you need to read trough tutorials. Perhaps start with fast-start-4architects.
