How long is "forever" and how big is the DWG file?

            Hello

I also get ACAD files I need to load into Sketchup. First thing I do is make the file smaller in ACAD. I remove all the borders, and unnecessary text,(which is the model tab if the file has been converted from a PDF to a DFX, which sometimes I get).

Also I look at all the layers and try to remove any part of the drawing which I don't need. If there are a lot of details, I copy those into another ACAD file for later use.

These pared down files I save. I also save the original file to make sure I always have the source. And the last, I rename the above files with names that make sense to me for this project.

            Hope this helps.

            Ken

That is big and long. Ken is right. Get rid of stuff you don't need and split the file into manageable chunks. Text won't show in SketchUp anyway so it can go.
