      In most of the info I read about LO I see there are presets for paper size (a drop down list) but I'm not seeing it on my system OSX using LO 3 and do all the templetes default to decimal until changed, maybe a good reason to save your own templete?

        you pick your paper size when opening a new document..

        all the euro sizes (A3, A4, etc) will be in cm.. the others will be in inches

        also, if you'd rather not change the size via the dialog in your post, you can change your paper size according to your printer's capabilities using File -> Page Setup…

            that's a windows screenshot.
            mac presets are in file-> page setup...
            (ie- the same place/dialog as most Mac apps)

                you can also change the units in the dialog you posted..
                click on units then switch to imperial.
                it should reflect in your paper sizes.
