      Hi all

I have problem with using the materials i've downloading from Google warehouse.

The materials i have downloaded are skp files and with numerous materials in 1 file.

How to get them use them as SKM file and as indivduals?

I've tried in vain to find a topic on this.

      Thanks heaps!

      Dom

        Hi Dom,

When you go to the "In model" library under you Material browser, at the top right, there is a +/- icon. That opens a secondary browser where you can navigate to any of your existing material library. Now you can simply drag and drop your materials from the top "In model" library to the respective library at the bottom.

If you want to save the whole library as such, right to the search bar (or whatever it is), there is a blue arrow icon that triggers a menu. There you can find a menu item to "save library..."; navigate to where you wish to save it - the default library on a 32 bit system is here:
        C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Materials

        • and save the whole library so that next time it shows up among your existing ones.

        Gai...

For example when i have many different wood textures in a model like:
            les 100 variant.skp
then i click PAINT BUCKET tool, where there are all those wood textures collected in the 'IN MODEL' drop down menu. So there is as Gaieus said a blue arrow icon that triggers a menu. There you can find a menu item "save collection as..." to save that in a map under the C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Materials
When I tried then to find those wood textures in explorer in a map I previously saved in seen (I saved it under the existing file WOODS) they aren't there and even if I create new map there's a lock on it in explorer and I can't open it or rearranged. Just to tell also that if I open those maps with PAINT BUCKET tool then all those textures are there. Why is this happening? Any tips?

It's probably some Vista security settings when Vista seemingly saves the materials in its correct folder but actually it saves them in some compatibility folder?

Yes, you need to set up admin rights to the location in which you're saving the library. If you put it in Documents, you shouldn't have any need for the admin rights. Also, once you've created the library, go to the same menu and choose Add to Favorites so it'll show up in the Favorites list.

A lot of those materials in your SKP look like they'd make better upholstery fabrics than wood. I could use some good fabrics. thanks for that.
