A Bit of a Scare

So, something with SU8 Pro and my Mac weren't playing well together. I ended up removing everything SU and LO related, and reinstalling. No big deal, go to Google, grab the link, download, etc.
But this freaked me right out, with the pending sale to Trimble... as I was on a deadline, and couldn't afford to lose SketchUp for an hour, much less a day.
So, how, on a Mac, do I keep a local (or backup) copy of the installer - so should this happen again, or I move to a new machine, etc... I can install easily, even without web access, or without the big G, or the new 'T'?
Can I keep the 'GoogleSketchUpProMEN.dmg' somewhere? Burn it to CD? And keep a copy on my backup drive? Maybe my DropBox?
And I have 2 of these that I need to deal with... which one to keep?

I don't really understand what the issue is? It just a disk image, of course you can keep the dmg file. You can make backups of it until your heart is content and you can save them anywhere you want.

They are one in the same it's the way the mac works, the disk image (dmg) is the one you want the other is simply the image mounted which you can eject after installation (right click-eject or drag too trash). On a side note if your running Lion you can create a USB stick that you can boot from to repair permissions etc.

if you have an old 1GB stick lying around i highly recommend it.

The issue is I have no idea what they are or how they work, as this is a return to a Mac for me. So, if I can hang on to this and it will work without a web connection or access to the big G, great.
Thanks.
