Problems with rectangular light

SU8 on Mac, vray 1.49
I have been having some strange problems with rectangular lights today.
I have a scene with some IES lights and default sun... I have had no problems with them.
However, when I have put a couple rectangular lights in I have had some issues... it seems if I make the light into a component, when i click render it will say the standard vray is processing your scene but then nothing will happen... no preview screen... it just goes back to normal sketchup functions. I tried remaking the light in no group or component and the render starts.... i tried then making it into a component and same problem! I am pretty sure I have never had this problem before.
