I imported a drawer pull from a SU 3D warehouse. I copy the drawer pull to my working drawing. I see it. I select it. I select a corner of the base then try to attach it to the drawer face in my model. I get it to the face - it is usually buried in the drawer face. I pull it out on the green axis to the appropriate depth from the face. Looks OK. Every time I let it go it completely disappears. I can't seem to lock it in place. This can't be that difficult. Please help.

Pilou's correct. It's pretty hard to help you without the component to look at and not even a screenshot. That said, I'm going to guess the pull has had some sort of gluing characteristics set that don't correspond to your model setup.

Well, I gave up trying and just made my own pull. Thought I was taking a short cut, but that missed so I'm moving on. Thank you both, nonetheless.
