Is it possiable to do this?

Is it possible with a plug-in to drape a plane or something over this a frame thingy.
-
Are you looking for the sags between frame members?

No just a quick and dirty way of finding out big the grey square needs to be to cover it. It can look as rigid as hell.

Todd, Roger over here in Tukee. Lower the rectangle until it touches the ridge of the structure. Draw a line on the rectangle along the top of the ridge to split the rectangle Then use the protractor tool to tilt the two halves until they touch the surfaces of the structure. Repeat the procedure where the vertical sections start.
Even better just use the ruler tool and measure the structure then do the math.

What are you putting under this structure?

You might also approach creating the canopy over the frame in a slightly different way. Instead of thinking about how to drape the large rectangle you have over the frame, draw the end and extrude it with Push/Pull. Then delete the bottom edges if you wish. You can get the area of the sections with the Text tool or from Entity Info. I kept it simple for getting the area since you wanted it down and dirty. There's probably a plugin that would give you the total area but I don't remember for sure and haven't searched yet.
