Errant objects on screen
-
I have been working on my house model and now I'm getting errant objects (lines, icons, etc) on the screen as I try to use a tool. they are not part of the file, but I must quit to get rid of them. Is this a memory or video card problem? It didn't appear until my file got larger, so small files seems to work fine without this aberration.
Also sometimes when I open the file, everything looks normal, I can select any tool, but none of them function.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Running SketchUp 8.0.1 on Windows 7 Home Premium version 6.1

Well, they can indeed be caused by the video card/driver. Try to turn off hardware acceleration under Window > Preferences > OpenGL settings. If it "seems" to fix the problem, first try to update your video driver as SU will be slower without its support and check if it is okay now.
What card do you have?

I think I experiment the same thing.
Need information on Square Bug
this had strangely and suddenly happened with both Su6 Su7 Su8 free and pro installed versions.
I have reinstalled my graphic card software_ anti virus scan etc...
have found nothing.this happened not so often by now...

What card do you have?[/quote]
Intel HD Graphics 3000
And turning of the hardware acceleration seems to take of most of it, but you were right, it is REALLY slow without it!

Well, integrated intel chipsets are well known as notoriously not fully supporting OpenGL although these (most) modern ones are said to be better than the first series. I would recommend to try to find an update for your video driver and test with HW acceleration turned back on.
Are you sure there is no other card in the system? Some laptops are manufactured with a built in chipset as well as a dedicated card and the user has to define which application should use which video card.
