Problem with "Views" toolbar after axes move
-
Ok guys,
I am currently working on a project which I have Geo-Located in SketchUp. I have realligned the axes in my model accordingly. The problem I am having is with my "Views" toolbar. Normally when I click on the "Front" icon on the "Views" toolbar, I get a front view of my model, with the red axis running parralel, but after I move my axes, the "Front" view does not correspond. Its like the "Views" toolbar is still using the old, default axes location.
Is there a reason for this? can the it be changed? or is it a bug in SU? Any help appreciated.

Indeed it uses the old (more exactly still current Wold) axes. There is no really good solution. You can do two things:
- if you have a loose face you can right click on, select "align view".
- If you are modelling a certain building only, after you aligned your axes according to the GE snapshot and started your building, make it a component (which will have its axes aligned to your modified axes) then right click > Save as... Now open the saved skp file, work on it as desired and when finished and saved, go back to the master model, right click on it again and "Reload..."

Either of these toolbar plugins display standard views according to your user defined axis.

Hi folks.
Base on Gaieus idea, I suggest making a component with the whole building and then, moving a copy of this component away from the original and properly oriented one.
Then, rotate this copy so that it is aligned to the standard or world axes. This will allow you to get the views that you want.
Just ideas.

thanks wind-borne for the pointer and muchos thanks to our great coders who once again provide a solution!
i may well be overlooking something but this seems like a basic flaw in functionality within SU?
i mean, world axes are world axes - if you change them, then everything relating to them should surely change accordingly?
discovered this issue recently while working on a site where the buildings don't all have the same orientation. when i tried to produce the usual ortho views of one particular building ... oh oh
