Reflections
-
Hello everyone
Yes I am new to this forum having just started working with Sketchup Pro 8 and vray.
My problem is I want to be able to apply a reflective shine to wooden decking (see pic)
I do not want to see the reflection in the groove between the planks so I assume I need to restrict the reflection somehow by maps.As you can see, the reflection covers the whole area and looks very flat.
Can someone point me in the right direction please?

The easiest method that comes to mind would be to use a different material in the grooves or better, eliminate the faces in the grooves altogether. After all, there wouldn't be any face there in reality.

I would reduce the glossiness(es) of the reflective layer, and add a bumpmap to the material, (as I see from your case you can use the diffuse image as your bump map).
good luck
