Material editor help
-
Hi guys, i just updated from vray for su 6, to the latest version of vray 01.49.01 for su. It renders great, but it
gives me a hard time when i open the material editor. It seems that vray automatically assigns all the materials in the model into the material editor, which makes the model file size, for example from 4mb to 8mb. When i delete the materials from the material editor to make the model lighter, the materials from the su model are deleted as well.
This really bothers me, because when i had the previous vray i chose which materials should be in the material editor
and of course when i deleted some of them, they didn't dissapear from the model too.
Could you help me fix this?
Thank you. -
sorry - that's just the way it is set up now. Before it was confusing to have some materials in and some not, this works much better. Why your model changes size, that is not because of anything vray is doing. If you load a vray material, it will automatically be brought in to sketchup as well, so you can edit the mapping of the material in the sketchup material editor.
One suggestion I would have is to save a lower resolution of some of your larger textures, and use that for the sketchup material. Then in vray, you can link the higher resolution texture by adding a second diffuse layer with that bitmap. Then on the first diffuse layer, change your transparency "M" button to a "texAlpha" color of white. This way vray will render the linked larger res texture while keeping your SU file smaller.
