Efficient exploding of faces without exploding curves?
-
while working on mouldings, i usually weld the profile of the moulding, . the profile is in a group. but on exploding the group to get a face, the curves also get exploded, hence i have to reweld the moulding profile all together again. is there a way to explode profile nicely without exploding the curve?

First, exploding a group or component by itself won't explode the curves that are in it. Exploding a group or component simply removes the "wrapper" around the geometry. Second, why do you need to explode the molding profile group? Why not just open it for editing and do what you need to do to it?

since i wanna put it on a parapet thats out of the group, so i explode it and make it follow the profile of the parapet curve

OK. So the moulding becomes part of the parapet? Still, if the moulding profile is a group, exploding it won't explode the curves bounding the face. Follow Me will explode the curve, though.

hi john2,
I'm not sure I'm understanding what your having issues with, but if you want to re-use the same profile somewhere else.
click into your group [edit mode] >> 'select' the profile face >> 'copy' >> click outside group >> 'paste in place' >> 'make [new] group >> move it to new location >> copy paste the path into the 'new profile group' >> use 'follow me'
not sure if you follow me...
john
