Interesting. I don't have nightly FF installed atm - so I've not been able to test.

I've been keeping tracks of the IE9 development lately - lots of big changes there. Though I've not heard WebGL mentioned. Nor can I find anything that says IE9 supports it. I had hoped they would when you described this WebGL, since they have been demonstrating hardware acceleration. πŸ˜•

        Hi Tito,

After a few months of being away, I'm back.

        Cool "return"!

I installed the new FF build (they even have it in Hungarian) and enjoying your little SU experiment.

(Now I can wait till they update all my regular FF plugins again)

@ thomthom: According to the official X3DOM site, there are only three web browsers that are working on implementing X3DOM and WebGL, and they are: Firefox, Chrome and Safari (webkit). For some strange reason, Microsoft is not working on any of the HTML 5's 3D declarative implementations on Internet Explorer. In fact, of all the major web browsers, IE is the least supportive of HTML 5. Let's take for an example the HTML 5 "Canvas" tag, it's not supported by the latest version of IE8, and yet it's been supported by the other major browsers for some time now. Knowing how Microsoft is, they might instead use their own 3D render Direct X, and not use the open source WebGL like the others are doing.

Yea I'd not expect anything from IE8 or older - but they have been doing a lot of work on CSS3 and HTML5 for IE9 - so I kind of had hopes when you described this feature. Have you seen the IE9 dev tests? hardware accelerated canvas drawing. Hardware accelerated everything actually.

As for this SU to X3DOM - is this something you have tool for converting?

Good stuff. I will have to have a look at time when I get a spare moment.

As for IE9 - the IE9 developer blog has been extremely interesting since they announced IE9. It looks as though they are doing a huge leap with this one, catching up for all them idle years, IE 7 and 8 has been the warming up and now they are going full steam ahead. Finally Standards really appear to be in focus. They even have these developer releases now for the public to comment and provide feedback on. http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/ Would be interesting to hear what they have to say about WebGL.
