I learned a long time ago that to miss / not comment (positive) that a woman has changed her hair style can be a bad mark against you and one that they may never forgive you for! Its akin the not commenting on a man's new car! Although a man will forgive you as he will put it down to envy πŸ˜„

'Hell Yeah' is right! We men loose totally or thin a lot in the hair department and as we get older its not such a big deal!

However the ladies, well most of them, don't loose their hair! Okay it may get gray but combatting that is a small industry in most towns. Its one thing they pride themselves on until they drop and even afterwards!

So, take notice and be in their 'good books' or overlook at your own peril!

I think I learned today that Chrome is better than FireFox. I had been using Opera and then moved to FireFox a few months ago. While I had Chrome on the lappie, I didn't realise all the add ons that were available. There are some really useful one for free.

It looks like I could be sticking with it!

I agree, Mike. On some points Chrome might be better than Firefox. Especially for it's speed and vast community contributed of extensions. Though, Firefox also have vast community contributed add-on for that case.
There are also some things that make Chrome wouldn't be able to really "replace" Firefox. This one for instance, as common annoyance in Chrome (probably not any other Chromium based browsers).

                          Hi folks.

This reminded me that learntis a possible form of the verb learn.

I checked this page to prove it to myself:

okay . . .I get it! Learntis a legit word. (Scores about 18 in scrabble if you hit a triple word score.)

So is Ain't, and coulda, shoulda woulda!

Its just not a word I use a lot. I choose gooderer words. πŸ’š

Depends on what dictionary you choose, I believe Websters has a more laxed approach to the changing language and Oxford a little pompous in keeping it pure.

Regarding learnt; we tend to use the t ending on some verbs more in Britain...it's probably the Scandinavian influence. I'd guess that learned and learnt are used about equally, same as spelled and spelt; burned and burnt; leaped and leapt; spoiled and spoilt; spilled and spilt; dreamed and dreamt. They are equally correct.
I'm guessing Mr Webster standardised it over the other side of the Atlantic...at the same time that he put a z in standardised. The only problem is that he didn't standardise it enough; no American I know uses keeped instead of kept or sleeped instead of slept. πŸ˜‰

However there are sometimes differences. You cannot say "my learnt friend" only "my learned friend" (and even pronounce it differently). Or the hangman hung the culprit? πŸ˜•

Once you have learnt or learned that in this context the words are verbs and that learned in the second context is an adjective you are well on you way to be a learned man.

More exactly a past participle. The same as when I say "I have learned" - although true that you use it as an adjective in the syntax and may have already become sort f "independent" from the original verb.

The hung/hanged comparison is still valid. πŸ˜‰

So true Gai, but I meant the learned friend reference.
I always find it interesting that people who speak English as a second language often have a better understanding of the actual construction than the native speakers.
