Placing components in a room
-
I am trying to arrange furniture components in a room and am having a lot of difficulty getting them all to sit flat on the floor. Is there a way of selecting all of them and getting them on the same plane/surface?

There're a couple of plugins that will drop components onto the groundplane, see Drop.rb, for example. It would be better if your components went in correctly to begin with. You should probably go through them and make sure their axes are aligned and located correctly. The red and green component axes should be placed such that they are coplanar with the bottoms of the pieces of furniture. If you are finding that the pieces of furniture won't sit flat on the floor the axes are not aligned correctly. Right click on a component and choose Change Axes and reposition them. The component's origin is the insertion point. You might want to place that at the center of the footprint of the piece of furniture or maybe at a front corner. Use guidelines to aid in positioning the axes. After that, when you drag the components in from the Components browser, they'll be a cinch to drop into place. You might find this of some help in repositioning the axes.

Explose your component then type G (short key for component) then choose glue to horizontal, check the position of the axis and create. Done.

Thanks very much. I'll give it a go.
