Strange - Construction Points visible

I'm having problem: I don't seem to be able to get rid of the construction points being visible.

How do you normally get rid of them? Where did they come from?
They are like other geometry in that that are always on unless you put them on a layer that is off, or you hide them. So I'm wondering if you just don't normally use them, therefor you don't see them?
To delete them all quickly, go to Edit > Delete Guides - but then they are gone, not just hidden.

I don't normally do anything to get rid of them because normally they don't appear. I'm not sure what's behind all of this, but Edit/Delete Guides did what I needed for now.

If you don't normally work with them, it looks like one got added to the top of the fence post component, and then therefore was showing up on top of every fence post. The measure tool has a nasty habit of leaving construction points lying around. And point at center of circle will do it as well.

View > Guideswill toggle them on/off without erasing them.
