Doubt with Vray - Bump & Displacement

I started using Vray to get some renders in sketchup, but I had many doubts about the features it offers is that some of them are:

What are concrete values GAMMA [bitmapbuffer] and alphaMultiplier [texbitmap] when using the option Bump or Displacement? What is its function and relationship between them? Since then they influence the value that will give the bump or displacement?

Is that when I use the BUMP or displacement, the values are always placed a lot of luck because I did not understand yet what its function then leads to poor results and disappointing. Any dictionary that explains each command?
