Yes of course they are all fakes - that is except for the ones that aren't... but you can't prove that
Some are so convinced of their abilities that they even fool themselves!
I am something of an amateur magician and I can tell you that it's pretty easy to do a convincing 'cold-reading' - if you're a really professional skilled or have dug up background stuff that 'you can't know' - then it's even more amazing with a warm/hot-reading...
Magic works because the viewer suspends their disbelief - the coin vanished and there's no other explanation - it dematerialized - of course there are dozens of ways it can be done, but they can't be bothered to find one.
Psychics do nothing much different - they play on the viewer's desires - if they want to hear from you late dad and when they get a message that seems half-right you over look the discrepancies...
Here's a simple 'divination' spiel that with practice is very convincing to the unsuspecting recipient, of course they can't suspect you are 'reading' it, it must be their personal reading...
