Most impressive SketchUp modelling
-
I am not critiquing the quality of the SU art in any way, but, the mechanical concept of the Heavy Lifter is a somewhat backwards. The large dual wheels under the engine/counterweight should be as close to the lift forks as possible, as that is where the load will be. The 2 smaller tires in front are seemingly way too small for the load the lifter seems designed for. Plus the steering mechanism cannot take such a load, which is one of the main reasons almost all lift trucks have the steerables in the back. The load end is usually a solid axle.
Very nicely done model and render though. -
That's really interesting - I would never have guessed but makes sense.

Friends seemed to like these two. The dragonfly I have posted before.

Very Nice work.

I read a post at the Unity3d's forum where a guy wrote: "I'm tired of using Google sketchup pro 8 cause that can't make anything good."
I wrote an answer and posted a few great model images I found here, but I started thinking...
What if we posted the most impressive SketchUp models we've seen. All in this thread. Could be our own or others.
(With the modelling in focus, not rendering.)A collection of the best of the best that would impress most on people that are not aware of SketchUps capabilities.
I'll start off with the images I posted in my reply to him:
Axeonalias Beam Trawler "Sea Lady"
Silver shadows HMS Snowberry
Silver shadows The river runs through it.
That second picture is particularly impressive. Whoever made that is incredible talented, I wish my sketches came out like that.

Numbthumb's "Acht-achter" cannon definitely deserves to be mentioned here.

That is the version used in the Macross:Do you remember love? movie from 1984. The movie is considered canon as a movie inside the original Macross universe...so yeah it's not acurate with the TV series but it is an actual version used in Macross. It is probably more popular because it's a more detailed version than the one in the series. The movie is renowned for it's high quality animation and detailing.

i thought why not post a picture of one of my works that i made some time ago.

I'll post a few of mine. Although they are nothing SPECTACULAR, they are the best I'VE ever made, and I'm hoping my skills will keep improving.
The first is what started off as just a single Pergola segment with a couple benches. But then I added curved corners and a flat roof in the middle and before you knew it I had turned it into a Gazebo as well. A Perzebo maybe?
Then on a whim I took away the central roof and attached all the pergola beams together to make a vine trellised peak in the middle. And added plants to the flower boxes.
The second is is a Gazebo I made to practice structure building. Then I added a swing to it.

Hey, thanks Numbthumb, I feel honored to be included in this fantastic collection!
I'm in the process of making some improvements/changes to the car (opening the doors, etc.), getting it ready for the Warehouse. Will post some pics in my WIP thread soon. -
From Kangal on smcars.net a car made almost entirely with soap skin and bubble. It's completely crazy.
