Hi. Still learning V-ray and decided to render some of my old models inside a building i modeled myself. Models were done in Sketchup. Renders were touched up in photoshop. Post processing gave verying results. some images are over-done others are better and one of them i really like (guess which one). Also, im sharing the warehouse model with you and hoping for a rendering contest. I couldnt get a nice light inside just from sun so please give it a try yourself, and if you use vray please share your settings.
    Renders below:

You know that UV unwraping does'nt exist in SU and using other applications is limited or difficult. So to put a zimmerit texture on any of these tanks would be a very challenging task and im not up for it.

          Dear Shareck,

These are excellent models and you are to be complimented. The level of detail is superb. Do you work from drawings or from photographs? Is the building your Tank Museum?

          Kind regards,
          Bob

Thanks Bob. I work from blueprints to get the basic size/shape and proportions right. Than i use loads of pictures for all the details. The building is just a bulding i modeled based on this picture:
            http://www.barbadospropertylist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/warehouse.jpg
. I wanted to render something like the picture but couldnt get the sunlight right.

Another two images. This model is actually the one i built for sketchyphysics animation so it doesn't have that many polygons and small details are faked in textures. Its the same model with two different textures.

I have noticed that. ๐Ÿ˜„ However, it didnยดt stop you from doing a really nice ambush scheme on that Kรถnigstiger ๐Ÿ˜‰
Anyway, I did not mean to criticize your work. Once again, excellent job.

Firstly, these are very good. ๐Ÿ˜„ However, you might want to see about viewing a few images of the real tank. I think, but I would have to verify with my research at home, that the King Tiger (for example) has tires covering the wheels, to help reduce some of the bumps.

To the best of my knowledge, Kingtiger did not have rubber tyred wheels, they used 'Gummigefederten Stahllaufrollen' or steel tyred wheels with internal rubber cushioning.
It was early production Tiger Is that were fitted with dished steel wheels with rubber tires.

Great job, shareck - details like weld seams and tow cables really add a touch of reality.
Did they add significantly to the file size?

Thanks. The welds are just simple geometry that have a material with strong bump map applied. The cable definitely increased file size but it was huge already so it wasn't a big deal.

The texture you used on the T34/85 is very impressive.
Where did you get the bumpmap from?

Exaggeration makes a dull story better.

Well the textureas are not really UV mapped so theres no big deal about the bump maps. There are 3 different materials on this tank. The difuse layer on all three materials is a simple dark green colour. But the bump map layer has a seamless texture of some eroded metal i found on google. Reflaction/specularity layer is another seamless texture of rusty metal or something like that. I only adjusted the strenght of the bump maps and reflections for each material and than applied the right materials to the right parts of the tank. welds are flat geometry with just a material with strong bump map.
