    Hello everyone

    This is a great website so I thank everyone who contributes.

    Also, as a total noob here, I can say sketchup is a perfect software for people like me.

    I needed to do some 3d models of our products(which are cables) but other softwares were so complicated, I couldn't dig in and do something.

    I am a complete noob on designing as I mentioned before (I studied autocad as a student but never really focused on it afterwards, so i dont really remember a lot) I just do some very basic stuff on PS time to time.

    I have some questions and I would be so glad if you can answer.

    1. How professional one can go in google sketchup? Can you show me some examples for "best quality" photos?

    2. As you can imagine, the models I do are mostly just cylinders that are connected, from biggest to smallest. So it doesn't really take so much skill to do this i suppose.
      But when i do it, it feels very pixelated. Are there any ways to make the curves smoother?

    3. Is it possible to import new textures into sketchup?

    I am sorry if my questions sound a little dumb, I am a real amateur atm, but I hope I can get better with time.

    1. Is there a shortcut or something for you to place an object (a square or circle) on a desired axis, instead of placing it first than rotating it?

      you mean drawing a vertical rectangle or circle?

      from the camera menu, choose parallel view, then put yourself il left or front view.

      when you draw now, your object is drawn facing the view.

      for non-axis direction, you have to rotate, or you could use an existing rotated face to draw on top of that (you can block that direction using the shift key)

      Maybe an image is more clear than this explanation:

        1. http://www.solos-art.com/ Note those images are rendered with a different program, but modeled in Sketchup

        2. After you select the circle tool, type a number and hit Enter to make the number of segments in the circle that number (default is 24)...so for example type 48 to make the circle twice as smooth.

        3. Yes, File -> Import -> Select JPEG, PNG, etc (tick the button "Use as texture")
