      Is there a plugin to color only the lines - edges ?
      In fact there is a way to do it via Styles and color by materials. but wondering another way to do it

            My '2dTools' include '2dLineStyle' [which also works in 3d] - it allows you to 'swap' selected lines for thin strips of faces [as groups, with the original edge moved to a hidden layer], which can have width/color/style you set from a dialog. There's a range of widths, all usual colors and CAD-style-dash/dots etc. If you select these you can get a context-menu that lets you edit their settings - so you can change their width/color/style as desired...
